Monkeys Fishing for the Moon
Once upon a time, in a dense forest, a group of monkeys were playing. Some were jumping from tree to tree, while others were chasing each other on the ground. They were having so much fun.
One little monkey ran to the edge of a well and looked down. To its surprise, it saw the reflection of the moon in the water. The monkey shouted, "Oh no! The moon has fallen into the well!"
When the other monkeys heard this, they all rushed over to see. An older monkey looked into the well and exclaimed, "The moon is really in the water!" Another older monkey came by, took a look, and cried out, "The moon is in the well!"
Soon, more monkeys gathered around the well, and they all agreed that the moon had indeed fallen into the water. They decided to work together to fetch the moon back.
There was a big old tree near the well. One of the oldest monkeys climbed up the tree and hung upside down, holding onto a branch with its feet. Then, it grabbed the feet of another monkey with its hands. This monkey also hung upside down and grabbed the feet of another monkey. They formed a chain, one after another, all the way down to the little monkey who could almost touch the moon in the water.
The little monkey reached out its hand to grab the moon. Just as it touched the water, the reflection disappeared. The little monkey tried again and again, but each time the reflection vanished.
Meanwhile, the older monkeys started to feel tired from hanging upside down for so long. Some began to complain, "How much longer will this take? I can't hold on much longer!"
Just then, the oldest monkey happened to look up and noticed the moon still shining high in the sky. It called out excitedly, "Stop! Stop! The moon is still in the sky! We don't need to fetch it from the well!"
Upon hearing this, all the monkeys stopped what they were doing and looked up. Sure enough, the moon was right there, high above them. They realized that they had been trying to catch the reflection of the moon in the water.
The monkeys laughed at themselves for being so foolish. They climbed back up the tree and continued their play, now wiser and more aware of the world around them.
